Usually sponsored by pharmaceutical or healthcare companies these roles are often primary care focused, and involve audit of patients records at the GP practice, setting up patient review clinics and provision of training to either patients, fellow professionals or both. Although sponsored by a pharma company these roles are strictly non- promotional and governed by the ABPI code of practice.
The projects can vary in purpose in outcome and can be across a variety of specialties, including:
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Mental Health
- Multiple sclerosis
- Gastroenterology
- Dermatology
- Respiratory Disease
To be considered for these roles you would typically need to meet the following:
- Evidence of specialist experience and often diploma level education in addition to RGN qualification e.g. asthma Diploma
- Evidence and ability to train ideally with addition qualification e.g. ENB 998 or similar
- Capable of managing own time and work load
